Rubella (German measles)

Rubella (German Measles)

Ideally, you should find out before you are pregnant if you have immunity to Rubella, as this can be harmful to your baby in the first three months of pregnancy.

A blood test can tell you, and if it shows that you are not, then you can have the Rubella vaccination before you try for a baby. You would have to avoid pregnancy for one month following the vaccine and it will be rechecked in early pregnancy.
